Arsenic in groundwater and rising salinity in coastal areas are long-standing challenges for drinking water in Bangladesh. Many affected communities are also far from a reliable electricity supply, which rules out conventional treatment plants.
Our approach
Blue Ray USA’s solar water purification technology is designed to produce 99.99% pure drinking water from arsenic and saline-polluted sources, using solar energy to run the pumps and treatment. Plants can be paired with bottling lines, so clean water can also be distributed beyond the plant itself.
In practice
One of the projects we have been involved in is a solar-pumped drinking water scheme in Sylhet. The same model can be scaled from village kiosks to larger plants serving towns.
